Full Itinerary

Day 1: Arusha To Meriakamba Hut (Full Board)

Hiking time: 4 – 6 hours

Distance: 10km

Habitat: Montane Forest.

The morning will start with leaving Arusha town taking a drive of 2 hours reaching the Momella gate through Arusha National park gate for the formalities. Under the escort of the armed park rangers you will then start your hike for up to 2hrs to the Maio fall and ideal picnic scenery. Thereafter, hiking through the famous fig trees, getting the detailed and interesting information from the park ranger hiking up to Miriakamba where you will have your overnight stay.

Day 2: Meriakamba To Saddle Hut (Full Board)

Hiking time: 3 – 5 hours

Distance: 8km

Habitat: Montane Forest.

The hike will start leaving the Miriakamba hut hiking to the Mgongo wa Tembo which is the hike of 2 to 3 hours taking a rest. Taking some oxygen at Mgongo wa Tembo, you will then take a hike to the Saddle hut where you can stay for your lunch and the day camping. As you have some free time you can opt to visit a little Meru which is a hike of 1hour and 30 minutes and have an awe view of the Arusha National Park and walk back to your camping point for dinners and overnight stay.

Day 3: Saddle Hut To Summit Day (Full Board)

Hiking time: 10 – 12 hours

Distance: 5 km up 13 km down

Habitat: Alpine Desert Moorland and Montane forest.

The day will starts in the midnight at around 0200hrs (head lumps are compulsory) taking light food such as tea and biscuits, then starts the hike to the Rhino point at 3,821Meters whereby the climb from here starts to be tough up to the summit point, here you will enjoy an awe view of the Mountain’s big brother (The Kilimanjaro Mountain) while your eyes will be also filled with the great view of the Mountain Caldera. Having such awesome moment at the Socialist peak you will then descend town to the Miriakamba hut for your meals and camping for the night.

Day 4: summit To Meriakamba Hut To Momella Gate To Arusha (Full Board)

Hiking: 2-4 hours

Distance: 10km

Habitat: Montane Forest

MOUNT KILIMANJARO

Mount Kilimanjaro is situated in the Northern part of Tanzania, in the Kilimanjaro National Park. It covers an area of 100 kilometers long and 65 kilometers wide.The mountain is a dormant volcano which is comprised of three volcanic cones, Shira, Kibo (on which Uhuru summit stands) and Mawenzi.
Kibo is classified as dormant but not extinct. The last major eruption from Kibo occurred 360,000 years ago. The last volcanic activity happened 200 years ago and resulted in today’s ash pit (visible from Uhuru Peak)
